Greg Proctor is a patent litigator and registered patent attorney specializing in intellectual property disputes. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, he represents clients in high-stakes patent litigation involving technologies such as cybersecurity, system-on-chip (SoC), light emitting diodes, radio frequency (RF) systems, software, and related innovations. With a background in electrical engineering and a J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Greg combines deep technical insight with strategic legal expertise to advocate effectively in federal courts and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in inter partes review proceedings. Representative Experience
- Served as a member of the trial team representing plaintiff Centripetal Networks in asserting patents related to cybersecurity and network threat detection technologies. The case resulted in a landmark bench trial decision finding willful infringement and awarding substantial damages (one of the largest patent judgments at the time), recognized with Managing IP’s Impact Case of the Year award. Centripetal Networks, LLC v. Cisco Systems, Inc. (E.D. Va., No. 2:18-cv-00094).
- Represented plaintiff Centripetal Networks in related patent infringement litigation involving network security technologies. Centripetal Networks, Inc. v. Keysight Technologies, Inc. (E.D. Va., No. 2:17-cv-00383).
- Represented defendant Feit Electric in defense of patent infringement claims concerning LED lighting technologies. Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd. et al. v. Feit Electric Company, Inc. (C.D. Cal., No. 2:22-cv-05097).
- Represented patent owners in multiple IPRs, including defending cybersecurity-related patents challenged by Cisco Systems (e.g., IPRs involving U.S. Patent No. 10,029,749 and related patents asserted in district court litigation). Inter partes review (IPR) proceedings before the PTAB.
